WORLD TOURISM DAY – 2019
World Tourism Day: This year for the first time India hosted the World Tourism Day which had the theme ‘Tourism and Jobs: a better future for all’. The event was hosted at Vigyan Bhawan on 27th September 2019. This date was chosen as the Constitution of the World Tourism Organization was accepted on this day in 1970. On this global day, Indian leaders have urged the youth to explore India and its diverse cultural heritage.
Anyone bitten by the travel bug acquires the urge to explore new terrains across the world. People have been discovering new and unexplored terrains. This unrelenting desire of the wandering mind takes a tourist on many adventures. Apart from leisure tourism, travel is undertaken for business purposes as well.
Keeping in line with the theme, India Exposition Mart Limited has received the National Tourism Award for Best Convention Centre.

WTO along with Shri Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Tourism & Culture; Shri Yogendra Tripathy; Secretary and Smt Meenakshi Sharma, DG, Ministry of Tourism.
Mr Rakesh Kumar Chairman, IEML and Mr. Sudeep Sarcar CEO, IEML received the award.
