AFAC powered by INTERSCHUTZ 2020 Australia – AFAC20 powered by INTERSCHUTZ is Australasia’s largest and most comprehensive emergency management conference and exhibition. Brought to you by AFAC, Deutsche Messe, the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC, Institution of Fire Engineers (Australia) and Women and Firefighting Australasia. The 2019 conference and exhibition attracted record attendance of over 4,000 emergency management personnel.

On rotation around Australasia’s major cities, AFAC20 takes place at the Adelaide Convention Centre from the 25-28 August 2020. Our host agencies are the: SA Metropolitan Fire Service; Country Fire Service; SES; SA Fire and Emergency Services Commission; Department for Environment and Water and Forestry SA. Our Principal Partners are the Adelaide Convention Bureau.

AFAC19 powered by INTERSCHUTZ was recognised as the Exhibition and Event Association of Australia’s Best Association Event at the 2019 EEAA Awards for Excellence.

The Conferences
AFAC20 will offer you an unrivalled opportunity to learn from international and local thought leaders across our multi-streamed, two-day AFAC conference, featuring the Institution of Fire Engineers (Australia) National Conference, the Australian Disaster Resilience Conference and the Women in Firefighting Australasia (WAFA) Conference. The Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC will hold their Research Forum on the first day of AFAC20. Following on from the conferences, the Professional Development Program (PDP) will feature practical workshops and site tours.

The Exhibition
AFAC20 powered by INTERSCHUZ features a world-class exhibition which attracted nearly two hundred exhibitors in 2019, with 46 international exhibitors from 16 countries in attendance. The exhibition attracts a comprehensive range of exhibitors covering all facets of emergency management equipment, technology and services. The exhibition features the popular live demonstration zone and practical expo stage presentations.

Social Functions
There are a range of social functions that take place during the week of AFAC20. These include the popular Gala Dinner which attracts over 1,000 attendees each year and the Delegate Welcome Reception taking place in the exhibition. There are also further functions to support our exhibitors and supporting conferences.

The Conferences
The AFAC powered by INTERSCHUTZ conferences bring together a broad spectrum of emergency management practitioners together to learn and share experiences. AFAC20 will start with the one-day Bushfire & Natural Hazards CRC Research Forum on Tuesday 25 August 2020.

Days two and three of AFAC20 will feature the multi-streamed AFAC Conference, incorporating the Institution of Fire Engineers (Australia) National Conference, the Australian Disaster Resilience Conference and the Women in Firefighting Australasia (WAFA) Conference.

Day four will see the Professional Development Program workshops and site tours.

The Exhibition
The AFAC powered by INTERSCHUTZ exhibition is Australasia’s largest emergency management exhibition, featuring over 12,000sqm of space, jam-packed with state-of-the-art equipment, cutting-edge technology and leading service providers. Features include:

The Exhibition
The AFAC19 trade exhibition featured 196 exhibiting organisations across 12,000sqm of gross floorspace and 46 international exhibitors from 16 countries. The AFAC exhibition has grown by 140% from 2015 when the partnership between AFAC and Deutsche Messe was created.

Demonstration Zone
This area features the latest equipment, technology and best practices displayed across the three days of the exhibition. These have included robotics, virtual reality firefighting equipment, rescue simulations and much more.

Expo Stage
The exhibition will also feature a comprehensive Expo Stage program with practical presentations aimed at helping those at the frontline of emergency management. Topics have included: innovations and new technologies, mental health, wellbeing, community, resilience, trucks and PPE.

Knowledge Centre
Within the exhibition is a central hub of research findings, including the popular poster displays. This is the place to meet other researchers and is a lounge area for conference speakers.

Held the day before the event commences, the Exhibitor Networking Drinks and Awards are our way of thanking the exhibitors and sponsors of AFAC20 powered by INTERSCHUTZ. This informal gathering of exhibitors will also include a short awards ceremony, speeches and of course much needed food and refreshments.

Who can attend? Exhibitors, sponsors, delegates, speakers and VIPs enter free. Tickets available to others at $90 + GST.

The Delegate Welcome Reception takes place on the exhibition showfloor and allows conference delegates, speakers and VIPs the opportunity to meet with the exhibitors. Again, held in an informal atmosphere, there will be drinks and refreshments served.

Who can attend? A Gala Dinner pass is included in the AFAC Conference 2 day pass. Other pass holders can purchase a dinner pass for $155 + GST.

The highly anticipated AFAC Gala Dinner is a popular social occasion and has a new theme each year. Watch this space for the 2020 theme and dress code! Over 1,000 attendees will be served great food, drinks and entertainment and it gives you a wonderful opportunity to meet old and new contacts.
